Decadent

Yet another reason to love Anchorage! We treated ourselves to a ridiculously expensive dinner tonight at Sullivan's Steakhouse and it was incredible. We had the best calamari I think I've ever had, a heavenly bottle of pinot noir, and iceburg wedge salads with the most incredible blue cheese dressing in existence. Josh had a New York Strip and I had crab stuffed shrimp...plus we shared crab-fried rice and mocha espresso chocolate cake. I. Am. So. Full. We're going to roll ourselves out onto the balcony for some Scrabble - it's 10 PM and bright as day. Josh needs to redeem himself from an earlier game - one that never really got off the ground:In all fairness he completely hosed me the two games before that...Special thanks to my beautiful, graceful cousin Alison who - in her infinite wisdom - told me to just live it up. Thanks for the reminder that we all need to unclench once in awhile and Enjoy It. I love you.

Urban Dwellers

Josh and I are spending most of our time getting used to our new surroundings. His internship starts next week and mine starts the next so learning to navigate Anchorage is #1 on our "To Do" list. An extensive walking and biking (and SKIING) trail system starts behind our house, so today we walked to UAA and back. We live in a city that looks like this? We're sold.

Million Dollar View

Josh and I are safe and sound in Anchorage. We have fallen in love with Alaska all over again. Not only is Anchorage like living in Alaska it's also like living in America. There is an Arby's. There are department stores. There are museums and restaurants and parks and theaters. We're simply in heaven. This week will be spent crawling around the city and getting to know our new home. Stay tuned for a chronicle of our last days in Fairbanks and of our trip south. In the meantime, enjoy a little of the view I see in the morning while I'm drinking my coffee on the balcony. We can see Josh's new office building from our apartment.

Get Me Airbanks

After my morning ritual of coffee and the online edition of the Daily News-Miner I think I'm more glad than ever that I'm moving to Anchorage - even if it is just for the summer. This story is jaw-dropping from start to finish (and don't forget to read the comments). It makes me miss the days when I knew all the cops by name and felt safe walking to my car alone after a shift at Red's or the Flats.Oh, and "Airbanks"= "the F out of Fairbanks". "Get me the F out of Fairbanks"...get it? GET IT? Eh - at least Lex will think it's funny.
