SPCA Special Pets for October

Kris is ready to pass his CANINE GOOD CITIZEN TEST! He has worked very hard and is doing so well! Kris is a young adult American Bulldog mix.. he loves to run and play with other dogs and respects cats. He loves everyone he meets and will do well in a home with bigger children. You can click here and check out Kris's silly video on Petfinder.com. You can see how much he loves to run! Kris is an extremely athletic dog!
CGC Certification is important for Kris and his new owner, not only because of his breed but because life will be good and is so fun when your new Dog is behaving and on the same page you are ;>)
We absolutely believe in this dog. He will make a wonderful addition to someones family.
Did you know statistics show more young pups are "put down" due to behavior problems than disease in the U.S.? (taken from Whole Dog Journal)

Start training early and keep up with it.. you will have a phenomenal dog!
If you are interested in meeting KRIS or any other available dog please visit our online application:

TANNER NEEDS A SPONSOR!
Money we receive for sponsorships covers veterinary care and food while the homeless pet waits for a new home. This is one way people can help us help the animals.
Labradors have it all!! How can anyone not love a Lab ?

TANNER is a beautiful 7 month old Lab pup. He will be a large boy.. shoot he is large now! Tanner came to us from a home that only had him for 2 days.. same story we have heard much lately!
"He is in to everything" "He chewed my decoration" "He won't mind me" "He wants too much attention" DuuuuH! he is a puppy! thats what they do! Two words for the fix... LOVE & TRAINING.
As it turns out, the people the folks originally got Tanner from would not take him back and the folks proceeded to call around to shelters in hopes someone could take him. A sweet boy like this deserves a chance.. he is just a baby!
We appreciate Beverly Animal Shelter giving our number to the folks who surrendered Tanner, but just a reminder, the SC SPCA is not a county municipal shelter and has no funding other than private donations. This limits us as to how many animals we can adequately take care of.
The SPCA helps to enforce the animal cruelty laws in Seneca County and must keep space for animals from those cases if needed. One of our goals for the future is to be able to have dedicated property for the SPCA and also a "OPEN DOOR POLICY" instead of turning needy community animals like Tanner away.
Tanner had no veterinary records or medical history and needs to be neutered and all vaccinations taken care of. Please consider sponsoring Tanner. Even a small donation will help. You can snail mail us at :

Attention: Sponsorship for Tanner

We thank you and the animals THANK YOU!
TANNER hit the dog lottery and is being fostered at a very Labrador friendly home in Waterloo. If you are interested in meeting TANNER or any other available dog please visit our online application:
Then we can make an appointment for you to come see him!

Meet KEEKEE!

Does this look like a happy girl to you??? Who would guess such joy can come from a visit to the veterinarian! (pic was taken at her recent checkup this week) She thought her vet visit was a party especially for her, that is how she views life.
She has a clean bill of health.. up to date on all her vaccines and is spayed. Keekee is just about 2 years old, bright white coat and the lovely eye patch.
Keekee is the definition of HAPPY. This little Halloween goblin loves children, cats and most other dogs... she does prefer the male dogs and may be snarky with some female dogs.~
Keekee is 40lbs of love.. she is such an adorable little monkey. She of resembles a terrier or pit bull dog... she is just a very small version. Keekee aspires to be someones housedog. She came from a very neglectful home nearby and spent many a stormy day and night in the rain and snow with a wet blanket tangled in her chain before we were able to get her and help her. She gained almost 20 pounds with us even though she was full grown when we got her! She certainly appreciates good care. This little lady makes us laugh daily. Her only foilble is "counter surfing" and will help herself to a cake or whatever goody is in her reach if she can get away with it. We just push things back and out of her reach... easy fix. She will learn.

Meet PEEKACHU! This big caramel colored boy is sweet as candy! He weighs about 60 pounds and is a strong boy, but so so willing to please! As his name implies.. he is a character! Handsome and sweet, Peekachu has been waiting for a long time for his own home. Peeka as we call him would love a home with a sweet female dog or even to be the only dog. He likes cats and will not hurt them.
Click here to see a short video of Peekachu during a training session.
You can see in the photo, Peeka only has nubbins for teeth. It appears his teeth were filed down. Perhaps his owners had illegal activities in mind for him? Another sad story and sad dog that came our way. Peeka was originally rescued by a kind hearted person from poor circumstances with unsavory people. When the rescuer came upon hard times we were contacted by a local bank teller through several other people in the area to his plight. That was over a year ago.
You might see Peeka traveling around Seneca Falls with his friend Stephanie.. one of our great volunteers who is taking Peeka out on "field trips" in public to help keep his training and social skills up to date. This is a invaluable service and we cannot thank Stephanie enough for all she does for the SPCA dogs.
Peeka loves to ride in the car and go places. He is a very good dog but will need a owner who will insist that he obey, if he has that, he is more than willing to oblige with good behavior.
