First a little history... FingerLakes1.com and all our client websites were originally hosted from the Flare.net network in downtown Waterloo, NY. After our partnership with Flare.net ended we co-located a single server in Binghamton, NY. Upon purchasing a company called "Finger Lakes Web Services" in 2004 we consolidated our two operations at a facility in downtown Phelps, NY which was also the home of 1st Priority Computing Service.

While at the Phelps location, our hosting network and data center has grown from the single server in Binghamton to a network of 24 machines responsible for hosting websites, e-mail, databases and applications for over 300 clients throughout the Finger Lakes and for customers as far away as California, Maryland, Indiana and Wisconsin.

While our server network and data center have been in Phelps for the past several years, our main office has always been located at 43 Fall St. in downtown Seneca Falls, NY. While we could always administer our network remotely, you can imagine some of the logistical problems we would encounter trying to manage our own network from 15 miles away. It was also difficult to justify any major investment into our physical server room while knowing all along our future goal was to consolidate our main office with our technical office.

Finally, that day is here.

Over the next few days we will be moving into our new office at 97 Cowing Street on the canal side level of downtown Seneca Falls. The major part of the move will entail moving our server network. This project will be worth the effort as we have constructed a brand new, climate-controlled clean room at our new location. Planning the move of our network into it's new home has required extensive planning and investment.

The decision to make this move is part of our natural growth as a business but it is also a major commitment we are making to the future of FingerLakes1.com, Inc. As president of FingerLakes1.com I based this commitment on the faith we have in upstate New York and the Finger Lakes region, our loyal and much appreciated customer base, our loyal user base at our community portal at FingerLakes1.com, my personal affinity for my hometown of Seneca Falls and a belief in the creativity, dedication, skills and general goodness of our staff.

Once we're moved in we'll be posting some photos so check back next week! If you're reading this on Saturday morning or later, the page will be being served to you from our new datacenter. That won't be too exciting (or even noticeable) to you, the reader. To us, it will be absolutely delicious.
