PETS OF THE WEEK 9-25-09
posted by Beverly Animal Shelter on Thursday September 24th 10:22pm
All right already, so you heard enough about that adopt one cat and get the second for NO adoption fee! (But the offer does still stand at the Beverly Animal Shelter.) October is Adopt a Dog Month now get ready for the sweetest, cutest, “most ready to be adopted” dogs you’ve ever seen.
LUCY

Little Lucy is the perfect companion for an older person or couple. A three year old, reddish brown Dachshund/Beagle mix with adorable, sultry brown eyes, Lucy weighs all of 27 pounds. She is good with other animals and children. Lucy’s favorite pastime? Riding in cars! And she just loves attention and being someone’s very special little girl. Lucy is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations.
RUSTY

Wearing his brindle coat while he does “tricks for a treat”, Rusty is the perfect dog for Fall. Don’t be frightened though by good natured, one to two year old Rusty who is simply an active young man looking for a family who will provide the exercise and attention that he needs. Estimated to weigh less than fifty pounds, Rusty is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations and thought to be housebroken.
SNAGGLES

Originally, an unclaimed stray, black and tan, Pekingese mix Snaggles is a sweet little man in search of a caring home. Approximately 3 years old and weighing in the 10 to 15 pound range, Snaggles is good with all – other dogs, cats and children. However, we do recommend older, respectful children because of Snaggles’ small frame. Snaggles is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations.
LAST WEEK’S PETS - Last week’s patiently waiting felines: Mr. Sax, Dickens and Booger remain hopeful that their purrfect human will soon arrive.
SHELTER NEWS -
Jenna’s building is under construction. How about adopting one of the two remaining doors ($500 each) or one of the five remaining windows ($250 each)? Your door or window will have a plaque recognizing your generosity.
Thanks go out to the generous supporters who continue to make the Beverly Animal Shelter viable. Especially the wonderful folks who participated in the ITT/Goulds Pumps/United Steel Workers Motorcycle Ride for the Benefit of the Beverly Animal Shelter.
Get your costumes ready! The Annual Paws on Parade is coming in October. Watch for more details.
The Beverly Animal Shelter is now participating with the Auburn SPCA in the SOS - Shelter Outreach Service (aka Save Our Shelter from the overflow of unwanted animals) Discounted Spay and Neuter Clinics held in Auburn. Those people adopting Puppies and/or Kittens from the Shelter will be required at adoption to make their deposit to participate in this clinic. The NYS Spay/Neuter program is no longer available to residents in Seneca County. The SOS clinic is also open to members of the community who have not adopted from the Shelter. A reservation and deposit are required. Please contact the Shelter at 539-9357 for more information.
The Shelter is (as it usually is) in need of laundry (detergent and bleach) and cleaning supplies. Also needed are cat litter and paper towels, regular towels and blankets.
We have taken in quite a few stray dogs in recent weeks. Please, if you have lost your dog, do call the shelter. Do not wait for an advertisement of “found dog” to appear. UPDATE: The BAS online site will now have a list of 'found' pets. If you are missing a pet, please check the site.
The Beverly Animal Shelter is now collecting your old cell phones. When the Shelter sends the phones in, they receive a small donation in return.
BAS, in partnership with Seneca Humane Society, participates in the Purina Pets for Seniors program. Purina provides a partial adoption-fee rebate to anyone 60 or older who adopts a pet.
Please be a responsible pet owner. Spay and neuter your pets to prevent more unwanted animals. ONLY YOU can prevent the overflow of kittens that begins each Spring and carries on into the Fall.
