PETS OF THE WEEK 9-11-09

posted by Beverly Animal Shelter on Thursday September 10th 8:53pm

Don’t miss the September adoption special at the Beverly Animal Shelter!  Adopt one cat or kitten at the regular adoption fee and adopt the second cat/kitten of equal or lesser value for no fee!  Please note: for very young kittens who need neutering/spaying, the spay/neuter deposit will still be required for both animals.
How about…

MISS KITTY & DAISY

9-11-09 Miss Kitty-Daisy

Shorthaired, Tortoiseshell MISS KITTY arrived last year with her newborn kittens in tow.  After she finished raising her babies, 2 to 3 year old Miss Kitty fostered a few motherless kittens.  Her work has long been finished and delightful Miss Kitty finally deserves a home of her own.  She loves people and enjoys being a lap kitty, especially while sitting outdoors.  Miss Kitty is up to date on her vaccinations and spayed.
Petite, Calico tiger, DAISY is as adorable as her name.  This 6 to 8 month old little girl lost her home but has not lost her white mittens.  Sweet Daisy is looking for a gentle home with lots of love.  She is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations.

LUCAS & CUPID

9-11-09 Lucas-Cupid

Handsome young LUCAS came in a month or so ago with the 3 amigos, Tony, Marcus and Kasey, the three nearly identical B&W teenage tux kitties featured last week.  Flea-ridden and very thin, Dallyn wasn't even sure if Lucas would make it, he was so pale. After a little extra food along with ridding him of the fleas, Lucas has become a beautiful cat. Charming and affectionate – what more could you possibly ask for?  Lucas is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations.  If you are looking for one of those rare, orange females, there have been a few orange Moms who have recently arrived with their young kittens.   You may want to check them out!
Ninety-nine percent black with a touch of white on his chest and hind center toes, CUPID will win your heart.  At approximately 10 months of age, enchanting Cupid is still considered a kitten, one of the many older “teenage” black kittens at the Shelter.  He’s just a love who is ready to give all his love to you.  Cupid is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations.

THE PROFESSOR & SOOKIE

9-11-09 The Professor-Sookie

Although a male, THE PROFESSOR is on the small side.  A gorgeous black and grey tiger wearing white boots who is approximately 1 year old, the Professor is sweet and gentle, yet playful.  He is searching for a home where his smaller size will be respected.  The Professor is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations.
Have you been missing for quite some time, your petite, grey tiger lady wearing her studded collar?  Might quiet and cuddly SOOKIE be yours?  She was found at the Lafayette School in Waterloo back in June.  Sookie is estimated to be 1 to 2 years old.  She is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations.  Since sweet Sookie has gone unclaimed, she is most certainly available for adoption.

LAST WEEK’S PETS  -  While longhaired Togar has an adoption in the works, the remaining charming “special” boys, Frank, Sinatra, Marcos, Tony, Kasey and cutie, Tobar, remain waiting for their purrfect human.

SHELTER NEWS  -

Thanks go out to the generous supporters who continue to make the Beverly Animal Shelter viable.

The Beverly Animal Shelter is now participating with the Auburn SPCA in the SOS - Shelter Outreach Service (aka Save Our Shelter from the overflow of unwanted animals) Discounted Spay and Neuter Clinics held in Auburn.  Those people adopting Puppies and/or Kittens from the Shelter will be required at adoption to make their deposit to participate in this clinic.  The NYS Spay/Neuter program is no longer available to residents in Seneca County.  The SOS clinic is also open to members of the community who have not adopted from the Shelter.  A reservation and deposit are required.  Please contact the Shelter at 539-9357 for more information.

The Shelter is (as it usually is) in need of laundry (detergent and bleach) and cleaning supplies.  Also needed are cat litter and paper towels, regular towels and blankets.

We have taken in quite a few stray dogs in recent weeks.  Please, if you have lost your dog, do call the shelter.  Do not wait for an advertisement of “found dog” to appear.  UPDATE: The BAS online site will now have a list of 'found' pets.  If you are missing a pet, please check the site.

The Beverly Animal Shelter is now collecting your old cell phones.  When the Shelter sends the phones in, they receive a small donation in return.

BAS, in partnership with Seneca Humane Society, participates in the Purina Pets for Seniors program.  Purina provides a partial adoption-fee rebate to anyone 60 or older who adopts a pet.

Please be a responsible pet owner.  Spay and neuter your pets to prevent more unwanted animals.  ONLY YOU can prevent the overflow of kittens that begins each Spring and carries on into the Fall.
